The program offers support to older adults at risk—including Holocaust survivors—who are vulnerable to abuse, neglect, and self-neglect, within a framework of trust and using integrated legal and therapeutic tools.
Services provided within the program include:

  • Legal counselling for at-risk older adults and their families: Marva’s experienced legal team, which includes lawyers, some of them are also social workers, offers legal and therapeutic interventions tailored to the older adults needs. This is done in cooperation with welfare and health authorities to stop and prevent ongoing abuse and neglect.
  • Participation in multidisciplinary teams: Serving as expert legal advisors in complex cases that require integrated intervention by specialists in law, social work, and medicine.
  • Implementation of innovative legal interventions within the welfare system: Introducing therapeutic legal tools that provide optimal support for older adults, such as supported decision-making models, medical and enduring powers of attorney, and more.
  • Education and awareness-raising: Recognizing the urgent need to increase awareness among the general public and professionals about the high-risk older adults face from abuse, neglect, and self-neglect, Marva conducts lectures and workshops for these groups. These sessions cover risk factors, tools for identifying signs of abuse and neglect, and explain older adults’ rights and the existing legal-therapeutic protections available to safeguard them.
